Living Labs

WP3 establishes and pilots youth-led Living Labs to co-create inclusive School Streets in Naples, Bergen and London. Living Labs will develop participatory co-creation methodologies specifically tailored to school communities, engaging young people and stakeholders through arts-based, playful and interactive tools. Through this process, it will facilitate cross-city learning to inform the scalability and transferability of these interventions.

The project’s empirical foundation consists of Living Labs in three diverse urban contexts: London (UK), Naples (Italy) and Bergen (Norway). These cities represent different planning cultures, policy stages and institutional conditions, allowing comparative analysis and transnational learning.

Living Lab framework development and stakeholder mapping

Detailed Living Lab methodologies and comprehensive stakeholder mapping, including school representatives, community groups, local authorities and youth organisations, will inform the development of clear and transparent Living Lab protocols.

02

Local stakeholder activation and community engagement.

The Living Labs in Naples, Bergen and London will be activated through specific engagement protocols.
03
03

Iterative Living Lab implementation and evaluation.

School Street interventions will be analysed and refined using an iterative approach. Activities will include community workshops, feedback sessions and pre- and post-intervention evaluations.

04

Cross-city exchange and mutual learning

Findings and experiences across the three Living Labs will be synthesised to produce locally grounded but transferable policy and design recommendations. Cross-city online workshops will provide opportunities to share learning.

Within STREET-15, an essential component of this approach is the role of Living Labs in shaping both local interventions and policy frameworks that facilitate the upscaling of School Streets across different urban contexts.
